The way I view the economic panic of 2008-2009 is that this is a fantastic time for reflection. We’re coming out of a time of excess, McMansions and Hummers.
If you’ve been hard-hit by the economic times, you’ve probably already let go of your Starbucks habit. Consider what else you can release in your life. Are there things that are pinching your wallet that don’t feed your soul? What if you gave them up for a day, week or month? Would you miss them?
Have you accumulated posessions that you don’t really enjoy anymore? Would eliminating them free up space, time or energy? If you sold them, would that help you meet your expenses right now? When your financial situation improves, you can always purchase another one. Know that it’s your choice. You’re choosing a short-term sacrifice for a long-term gain.
